If you are planning a trip to Bhutan via air then travelling cost will be a bit higher but no worries, it will be safe and fast. Bhutan has two main airlines services, Druk air and Bhutan airlines, located in Paro valley(only international airport in Bhutan).
Travelling cost will differ as per the season, if you are travelling during peak season, then you might have to pay more as compared to offseason.
The cheapest way to travel Bhutan from India is by road. You can travel till Bagdogra airport via air, then from there you can book a taxi( share taxi could be limited) better book the whole cab till Siliguri bus terminal.
when you reach Siliguri there are plenty of buses directly to Jaigoan (nearest border to Bhutan).
Is Visa required in Bhutan for Indian citizen?
No, a visa is not required for Indian, Bangladeshi and Maldives nationals but you need to process travel permit.
You must carry travel document, valid passport, valid voter card and hotel reservation details in any hotel within Thimphu and Paro.
If you are travelling by road then you can process your permit in phuentsholing Regional immigration office and if you are flying via air then you can process in Paro airport.
Is Indian currency Accepted in Bhutan?
Bhutan Does accept Indian currency INR 100 and INR 50 rupee denomination but INR 500 and 1000 are not accepted in Bhutan. If you have a master card, you can bring along with you, since some hotels and souvenir shop do accept.
Bhutan currency is called Ngultrum and it has the same value as Indian rupee.
