Ryan Towmey used to work on the F-35 program in Arlington, Virginia for about two years and later on got a job in DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency).
Ryan worked in DARPA for about six months.
While working there he always had a fantasy about tiny living in a van like Mavrik Joos.
Four months before his lease was up the pandemic hit. All employees were sent into working from home including Ryan.
He started doing serious research on the type of vehicle to buy, and the cost of building the van and designed 3D pictures.
After being fully convinced he called a company in Hooksett, New Hampshire and bought a van for $30000.
He planned on living in it for like one to two months travelling the country and then probably going back to the office but it never happens.

Since Ryan Towmey had a decent-paying job working for the government he was able to get a $15000 credit card limit through Navy Federal.
So with the money plus $7000 in his bank, he was able to build a high-quality van.
It was really difficult for Ryan to convince the bank to give him a loan for a vehicle because he had no credit history.
It took him 6 months to finish building his van.
Every single day after work he dedicated his 5 to 6 hours working on the van not hanging out with friends and family.
